Progress 2013-2016

1. Founding (2013): In 2013, the Child Care Project established a school in Iganga to uplift the lives of underprivileged children. Initially serving 40 kids, the project aimed to offer education, meals, and support for future growth

2. Initial Challenges: The school began with poor infrastructure, delayed teacher payments, hungry students, inadequate sanitation, and low hygiene standards

3. Volunteer Efforts (2014-2016): Dedicated volunteers, including school staff and CCP board members, brought positive changes:

  • Infrastructure: Improved the school’s physical conditions, replacing walls, roofs, and installing rain gutters.
  • Interior: Introduced durable panels, learning materials, individual writing tables, and hygiene resources like toothbrushes and handwashing facilities.
  • Hygiene Seminar: Conducted seminars to teach good hygiene practices to students, teachers, and parents.
  • Latrines and Fencing: Built new latrines and fenced the school premises for better hygiene and security.

During these years, the volunteers significantly improved the school’s environment, creating a better space for learning and growth in Iganga.5
